RETHINKING WOLF MOON JOURNAL
Wolf Moon Journal has been on the web since 2002. From 2003 through 2009, the journal was a print and web journal with a broad range of content, including movie reviews, essays on various topics, images of Maine, and poetry. While based in Maine, not all of our contributors have been from Maine nor were all the articles about Maine—we were not afraid to tackle big themes that go beyond our state. On the other hand, we treasured our independent voices from the hinterland, and much of our focus was on life in Maine. In short, we enjoyed being somewhat contradictory.
In the fall of 2009, because of rising printing and postage costs, we made the decision to no longer publish a print journal. It was a sad decision—we had been in print for seven years—but it was the right one to make. We now live in the age of the Internet, and while we old-timers love print magazines and newspapers, times are changing, as the saying goes, and Wolf Moon Journal had to change, too. But we missed the print journal—there’s no getting around it—which felt more solid and real than the ephemeral Internet.
Currently we are on hiatus. We are rethinking the Journal and what its content should be. We hope to formalize our new ideas for Wolf Moon Journal and return to regular content posting later in 2011.
